After 19 long months, I am back in my studio again full time. Now that I am no longer in a chronic state of medical crisis because of breast cancer and all it's complications, I am finally able to work again.  I set myself a new challenge: 100 paintings in 100 days.  This is a very special project. Over the next 100 days, I'll be adding 100 paintings to this collection. Each small original oil painting will measure 8"x10" and be available for $250.00 each which includes shipping. Paintings will be shipped USPS Priority w/tracking when dry enough to safely ship, usually 7 to 10 days if recently done.  Paintings are sold on a first come basis.

This is a great time to add to your collection, start one, or pick out a special gift. If you think your friends might like receiving this 100 paintings in 100 days update, please feel free to forward it. They can contact me directly to subscribe.

Back to 100 Paintings in 100 Days PAGE 1, Page 2

The 100 Paintings in 100 Days project was for me, a celebration of recovery after nearly 2 years of Breast Cancer treatment that included major surgery, chemotherapy, side-effects, after-effects, complications, and a permanently altered physical existence.  The project was a way to re-claim my identity as an artist so long eclipsed by that of just a cancer patient. It was also a way to share my recovery and re-connect with friends and clients I had not been in contact with for a very long time.

I chose landscapes as a theme to focus on because I find comfort in the rhythms and rituals of the seasons, fascination with the patterns in nature, and delight in color and light. I am reassured by the constant, yet ever changing beauty of the environment that surrounds me, with all its subtleties, and moodiness, both benevolent and threatening. I can go to the same landscape location any number of times and each time it is the same, yet different. This phenomenon could be a metaphor for my life. I am still me. Even though I have breast cancer and am forever changed by it, it is only one of many changes over a lifetime, and I am still me.

Although my primary response to life has always been painting, I find painting during my recover to be healing and restorative on every level of being; mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and it turns out, even physically. The act of painting quiets my mind and allows me to focus, channeling my thoughts and energy away from fear and negativity into a something positive and beautiful.
